Clean Kit Bags are Effective Bags

Cleaning your kit correctly increases its lifespan, prevents cross contamination and increases efficiency when using your kit. These simple tips can help you keep your kit in tip top shape so that it’s readily available when you need it most.

Our friends over at Statpacks have produced the following guide, which is not only suitable for Statpacks products, but also for our entire Parabag TPU and PAX bag ranges.

• Always follow your department's SOP's for cleaning over our recommendations
• Always wear personal protection equipment when cleaning packs. (i.e., gloves, mask, eye goggles, etc.).
• Remove all inner lining and shoulder straps that can be removed.
• Always remove all medical equipment, so the pack is completely empty.
• Treat stains with a household stain remover, but first test for colour fastness in an inconspicuous area. Some of these chemicals can and will change the fabric colour.
• We DO NOT recommend machine washing of the packs, as they CAN be DAMAGED on spin cycle.
• We recommend hand washing with soap/water or house hold detergent.
• For Infection Control Cleaning NFPA 1581 guidelines in sterilisation and disinfecting should be followed whenever possible. Any foam padding should be removed prior to cleaning. If possible, allow 2 or 3 days to air dry if padding cannot be removed.
• If caustic materials such as petrol, diesel, oil, or anti-freeze need to be cleaned, please follow your department’s protocol and safety guidelines.
• Hang to dry in a well-ventilated, dry area.
• Treat with a fabric protector.
• To clean urethane or vinyl, in the US Scrubbing Bubbles has been proven to take care of film and dirt, the UK equivalent would be a product like Mr Muscle or Cilit Bang. Make sure all clear windows are wiped dry, to keep condensation and mould from forming.
• Helpful Hint - when opening and closing zippers pull slightly outward, this will reduce binding.

Follow these useful guidelines and we're sure you will get many happy long years out of your bag.
