SP Services and Celox Support the Knife Angel in Telford

SP Services and Celox Support the Knife Angel in Telford

When we heard that the Knife Angel was coming to Telford, our hometown, we knew as a medical supplies company that we wanted to get involved with this fantastic initiative to help raise awareness of the ever growing numbers and effects that knife crime has on our country.

Therefore, we’re extremely pleased to be working very closely with Telford and Wrekin Council in their efforts to help them make this project a huge success whilst the Knife Angel is here in Telford.

What is the Knife Angel?

The Knife Angel is an impressive sculpture made from more than 100,000 knife blades which aims to raise awareness of knife crime in the UK and to help stop people carrying knives.

The Angel was created by the British Ironwork Centre by sculptor Alfie Bradley and is made from knives collected as a result of working with police forces and introducing knife amnesties across the country. The campaign ‘Save a Life, Surrender your Knife’ all the way back in 2015 saw many police forces join together to make this a success.

The sculpture is dedicated to the victims of knife crime - a number of the blades carry the names of knife crime victims, inscribed by their loved ones.

You can read the full story about The Knife Angel and how it was made on the British Ironwork Centre website.

When will the Knife Angel be in Telford?

The #TelfordKnifeAngel will run from 29th February 2020 until 29th March, 2020 at the Southwater Square. It costs nothing to view the Knife Angel in Telford and we only ask for your commitment to stop people carrying knives.

During the month-long event workshops will take place in Telford where young people can learn about the effects of knife crime on their family, friends and the wider community. It will become a pivotal focus for visitors and Telford locals alike to view the Angel and its surrounding educational material.

SP Services and Celox to Support the Knife Angel

The grand opening of the Knife Angel will be taking place on Saturday 29th February 2020 at Southwater Square in Telford where we will be present to answer all of your queries and be providing demonstrations on how to stop the bleed when the unfortunate does happen. Supported by emergency wound care and haemostatic agent specialist Celox Medical we will be handing out ‘Stop The Bleed’ packs to First Aid trained* people and similar packs to non-trained people to help equip the public to save a life in unfortunate circumstances.

Celox medical is the number one agent for treating the most severe trauma injuries by providing innovative and reliable lifesaving medical products. In a crisis, seconds matter: death by bleeding from a knife wound or gunshot in just a few minutes and saving lives needs fast, targeted action. That’s why we’re working closely with Celox as by using their haemostats means that you only have to apply three minutes of firm pressure in order to control catastrophic bleeding.

For more information on the event, and to register your interest in receiving one of our Stop The Bleed packs for free at the opening ceremony please see our Facebook event or contact us on
